LARS celebrated its 5th Anniversary in style with a black tie dinner dance at Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli on the 22nd September 2018.
A packed room comprising predominantly stalwart Friends of LARS – our support circle, the Trustees and Team of LARS, the young LARS artistes, their parents and friends and invited guests which included The Mayor of Llanelli, Chairman of the Rural Council, Chairman of Carmarthenshire County Council, the Welsh Assembly Member for Llanelli and the High Sheriff of West Glamorgan with their consorts and wives. It was a pleasure also to have the company of Huw Tregelles Williams OBE, Honorary Patron of LARS.
Guests were welcomed by Mark Llewelyn Evans, the Ambassador for LARS who bound the evening together in his own unique and skilful way. A delicious three course dinner was served with coffee and mints. To make that special difference to the evening the LARS singers performed between courses, the artistes were: Jack Owens, Lauren Fisher, Daisy Owens, Neve Summers, Osian Clarke, Callum Howells, Stephen Davies and Nia Rees. The singers were supported and very ably accompanied by LARS Musical Advisors Catrin Hughes and Andrew Pike, Stephen Davies doubled up as Nia’s accompanist.
A very lucrative fundraising session followed the dinner comprising Heads and Tails, a raffle and auction. The night ended with dancing late into the night to the brilliant Fat Barry Soul Band. LARS is grateful to all who helped in any way to make this a night to remember. Can we wait another 5 years before our next big dinner dance?
What do you think? Should we make this an Annual Event?

Mavis Anderson What a fantastic night had by all, I haven’t had a laugh with friends like this in ages, I can’t begin to say how much our table enjoyed the whole evening. The young Stars were amazing as usual, Congratulations to them also congratulations to LARS, as always you did a fantastic job of arranging the evening. Fat Barry’s Soul Band – all I can say is wow, they absolutely blew us away, they know how to get people dancing. Thank you. To everyone else whether a friend, Accompanist, back of house at LARS, thank you and keep the support going. It is so important that our young stars get all the help and support they can get.
Andrew Windsor I have to say that was one of the best nights that I have had for a very long time, I even let my hair down (HA! HA! HA!). I absolutely agree everyone has done an incredible job arranging the night we had, The Rising Stars were amazing, incredible actually. I always wish I could hear them more than once or twice because it just is not enough. I can’t begin to tell them how good they are and how they keep improving. Keep up the good work, you truly are *** RISING STARS ***. Fat Barry’s Soul Band, we kept hearing from different people how good they were, we didn’t know if they really were that good, OMG! they blew the roof off and kept it going throughout the night. Absolutely amazing, Everyone involved in LARS is doing an amazing job, Thank you.
Richard Sullivan Brilliant night and fantastic company👍👍👍👍👍
John & Diane Flynn As new members of Friends of LARS, we attended the 5th Anniversary Ball at the Strady Park Hotel. What a fantastic evening we had, a truly memorable occasion which was so well orchestrated by Mark Llewelyn Evans.
The vocalists who performed at the event were excellent, the talent & confidence they displayed was amazing, their repertoire unbelievable.
A brilliant touch was the way the evening had been planned with songs being performed between the food courses. We can’t wait for the next event.
Mike & Debbie Seaward What a fantastic night, we really enjoyed it, in fact, this event and the others we have attended inticed us to become friends of LARS shortly after the event.
