Osian Clarke

Osian is a native of Tycroes and has attended Ysgol Saron and Ysgol Dyffryn Aman.  He is currently in his final year at Dyffryn Aman and has been selected as the Head Boy, attending events and speaking in public as an ambassador for the school.

Osian has been a keen member of the Urdd since primary school, and is now an Urdd Ambassador, promoting the Welsh language and Urdd events at school.

Osian has loved music and singing from a young age, and has performed as a solo artist and in musicals for a number of years.  He has achieved Grade 8 in Classical Voice and Musical Theatre, and is currently working towards his Diploma in both disciplines.  Osian has recently gained a scholarship to study Vocal Performance and Opera Studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

In addition to music Osian enjoys a wide range of subjects, including English, Welsh and History.  He is a keen actor and has attended the Mark Jermin Stage School for a number of years.  He has had main roles in a wide range of productions over the last few years including school shows and local dramas.

While Osian focuses mainly on his vocal studies, he has also played the piano since the age of 11, and is currently working towards his Grade 5 practical exam.

Performing Experience

2012

Parts of Rueben and Potiphar in Year 6 Production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamboat

 

2014

2nd in Canu Unigol at the Eisteddfod yr Urdd, Bala.

Performed, including a solo piece, at the opening ceremony of the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol in Llanelli.

Performed in the school production of Syrffio ar y Sgwar.

 

2015

Played the part of Drake in the Mark Jermin Stage School production of

Honk!.  This ran for three performances in Carmarthen.

Auditioned for a part in the Urdd Welsh Junior production of Les Misérables.  Shortlisted for the part of Marius, and while not successful in getting this part was chosen to play Courfeyrac.  This show ran for five performances in October 2015 at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff.  As part of the cast for this show, I also performed at the 30th Anniversary performance of Les Misérables in the West End.

I was chosen to play Marius for four shows of Les Misérables produced by the Mark Jermin Stage School in Carmarthen.

 

2016

Played the part of King Tritan in the Mark Jermin Stage School production of The Little Mermaid.  This ran for four performances in Swansea and in London.

Played the part of Danny in the school production of Grease.

 

2017

Played the part of Link in the Mark Jermin Stage School production of Hairspray.  This ran for three performances in Swansea Grand Theatre.

Performed as part of the Mark Jermin Stage School group, including a solo piece, at the Up Next South Wales event at the Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot.

Performed at the Mark Jermin Stage School 25th Anniversary at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea.

Performed at the LARS Soirée held at Stradey Castle.

Performed at the LARS Night of the Stars Gala Concert in Ffwrness Theatre, Llanelli.

Played the part of JJ in the Jermin Productions pantomime Jack and the pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.  This was a Welsh performance, held at the Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen.

Performed at the Llanelli Rotary Club Christmas Party held at the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli.

 

2018

Played the part of Horton in the Mark Jermin Stage School production of Seussical the Musical.  This ran for four performances at the Sony Theatre in Bridgend. Performed as part of LARS at the Machynys Golf Club Italian Evening.

Performed two sessions as part of a Dafydd Iwan charity concert held at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman.

Performed as part of LARS at the Masonic Temple Ladies Night in Llanelli.

Performed at the LARS Soirée held at Stradey Castle.

Took part in Music for the Park evening at the Stradey Park Hotel, organised by the Park Howard Association.

Eisteddfod Yr Urdd Boys Solo Singing in Builth Wells representing Carmarthenshire

Performed for the Masonic lunch at Stradey Park Hotel and received the St Elli Lodge Bursary Award for 2018.

Performed at the end-of-term concert at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

Performed at the LARS Afternoon Concert at Margam Orangery.

Performed at the LARS Fifth Anniversary Dinner Dance at the Stradey Park Hotel.

Represented LARS in Holland at the Commemoration of the 53rd Welsh Division that liberated Hertogenbosch.

Performed at A Night with the Stars at Ffwrnes Theatre.

Performed in a lead role in Swyn Y Ser, the annual school production at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman.

Performed as part of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama conservatoire ensemble for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebration visit.

Performed as a solo and as part of the junior conservatoire at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Christmas Foyer Concert.

Solo performance at the school Christmas Carol Service.

Performed at the village Christmas Concert.

2019

Took part in the Rotary Young Singer of the Year competition at Stradey School.

Performed at the Welsh/French night at Machynys Golf Club.

Performed as a Soloist at the Ammanford St David’s Day Concert.

Performed as a soloist and with Lleisiau’r Cwm choir and Morriston Orpheus Choir at the St. David’s Day Concert at Ffwrnes Theatre.

Performed as part of LARS at the Masonic Temple Ladies Night in Llanelli.

Won the Betty Richards Award for first place in a vocal competition at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
