Darcey George

Darcey is 17 years old and comes from Newbridge in Gwent.  She attends St Albans RC High School in Pontypool and has been singing and performing since the age of three.  Darcey loves Classical Music with a particular passion for Opera, and is one of the newest members of LARS, having joined in December 2020.  Since joining LARS, Darcey has had three opportunities to perform at live events, including a Masterclass with international baritone Gary Griffiths and an evening with the world-famous Pendyrus Male Choir.

She has attained high grades in her Classical Singing examinations and at the age of 14 passed her Grade 8 with Distinction.  In March 2021 Darcey achieved a Distinction in her Music Diploma.

In 2014 Darcey was selected to be part of the pan-Wales ‘Only Kids Aloud’ Chorus, directed by Tim Rhys-Evans MBE.  She was a regular performer for over two years.

Since the age of 11 Darcey has been tutored by Mr Paul Cook.  Whilst at school she regularly performed in Mass and Services.  Darcey also also has a passion for acting and has played the part of Tobias in her school’s production of Sweeney Todd and Cosette in Les Miserables.

In 2019 Darcey was a finalist in the Dunraven Young Singer of the Year 11-14 Year age group.  This event was held in Cardiff.

Darcey is currently a member of WNO’s Welsh National Youth Opera and in 2017 toured in their production of “Der Rosenkavelier”.

Darcey enjoys singing Classical pieces and has a keen interest in Opera.
