Nikkila Thomas

Nikkila is from Llanelli and became a member of LARS in December 2018.  She started singing at the young age of 6 with The Hywel Girls Choir and Boy Singers and remained a chorister with them for 12 years becoming the senior soloist.

After passing her A Levels at Gower College Nikkila moved on to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD), graduating with a First-Class Honours Degree in Vocal & Opera Studies in 2021.  During her time at RWCMD she also regularly performed in classical recitals, concerts and choirs.  Whilst at college, Nikkila also achieved a distinction in her Grade 8 ABRSM Singing exam under the tutelage of Penny Ryan OBE.

During her time with LARS she has performed as their Guest Soloist at Y Ffwrness Theatre at their St David’s Day Concert. She has sung at many charity events, her most memorable one being at Oystermouth Church, Mumbles in aid of the RNLI.  She has performed as Guest Artist with Burry Port Male Voice Choir and Guest Soloist with Morriston RFC Male Voice Choir at their St. Davids concert in aid of Marie Curie.  She also took part in the series of LARS Virtual Concerts that were released during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Nikkila is currently working with Wye Valley Music providing a musical programme specially designed for people with dementia.

Nikkila has received a Friends of LARS bursary and a Llanelli Grammar School Old Boys and Graig Former Pupil’s Association bursary.

Nikkila loves to sing Classical Soprano, and is also a Crossover artist.
