An afternoon of music was held by LARS on the 2nd September 2018, at the stunning Margam Orangery to showcase its singers. Guest artistes were the brilliant young violinist Charlie Lovell-Jones and Crescendo Youth Choir under the baton of Kathryn Blight. Charlie was accompanied by his father Simon Lovell-Jones and the choir by Rhian Davies. The afternoon was skilfully hosted by LARS Music Ambassador Mark Llewelyn Evans.
The LARS singers gave very impressive performances, in order of appearances: Neve Summers, Jack Owens, Sydney Richards, Callum Howells, Daisy Owens, Osian Clarke and Lauren Fisher. The musical Advisors for LARS Catrin Hughes, Andrew Pike and Stewart Roberts doubled up on the day as accompanists and were stalwart in their support for the young singers.
Special guests of LARS included Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Mr Byron Lewis and Mrs Hilary Lewis, The High Sheriff of West Glamorgan Mr Henry Gilbert and Mrs Lyn Gilbert, The Lord Mayor and Mayoress of the City and County of Swansea and His Worshipful the Mayor and the Mayoress of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
The music fraternity was also very well represented and included the musical directors of Pontarddulais Male Choir, Morriston Orpheus Male Choir, Morriston RFC Male Choir who is also accompanist to Dunvant Male Choir, Pendyrus Male Choir, Lleisiau’r Cwm, Crescendo Youth Choir and the chairman of Kenfig Hill Male Choir.
