Sam Morris
Biography

Samuel Wyn-Morris was the first member of LARS, joining in 2013. His experiences with LARS over those years have been considerable and varied. Sam was chosen as a LARS member following his performance of Marius in a school production of Les Misérables when he was 16 years old. Seven years later, Sam is currently a member of the 2019-2020 cast of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre in London’s West End! As well as being a member of the chorus and playing various individual parts, he is also the second understudy to the main character, Jean Valjean

After leaving Ysgol Gyfun Y Strade in Llanelli, where he was Head Boy, Sam graduated from the prestigious Guildford School of Acting (GSA) with a First Class Honours Degree in Musical Theatre and since then has continued to perform in concerts at home and abroad as well as making his professional debut at The Old Vic, London. He has considerable experience in being a part of a cast on stage or being on his own as a soloist or compere.

Since graduating in 2017 he has pursued his ambition of performing and through LARS has performed throughout South Wales and abroad as well. He says that one of his pinnacles with LARS was in 2018 when he performed at the WWII Liberation Commemorations in the city of s’Hertogenbosch in The Netherlands and also for the Vancouver Welsh Soceity. LARS were invited by the city to represent Wales at the ceremony to mark the city’s liberation by a Welsh Regiment during WWII.

Sam has performed alongside many leading Welsh choirs:  Pendyrus Male Choir, Treorchy Male Choir, Morriston Orpheus, Llanelli Male Choir, Noteworthy Mixed Choir, Only Boys Aloud, Hywel Girls’ Choir and Hywel Boys Singers as well as prize winning band The Burry Port Town Band.

Since s’Hertogenbosch, Sam has represented LARS in an event hosted by the Welsh in Vancouver Canada. He compered that occassion to great acclaim. As a compère he has hosted numerous charity events. This has ranged from hosting a charity event in Machynys Golf Club Llanelli to compering LARS’ parent organisation, Loud Applause Productions’ “A Night with The Stars” concert at Ffwrnes Theatre, Llanelli.  Over the years performing in the Night with the Stars concerts he has shared the stage with Shân Cothi, Connie Fisher and other well-known artists.

His early compering experience led him to be chosen to present LARS’ first promotional video. But he’’s no stranger to the cameras. He has appeared on TV in the entertainment programme Noson Lawen and on daily magazine programmes Heno and Prynhawn Da.

In addition to the many performing opportunities Sam has had through LARS, he says that LARS were a big support to him when he experienced initial difficulties breaking through into his chosen profession after graduating.
