What we Do
Loud Applause Rising Stars (LARS) was founded in 2015. The primary purpose of LARS is to provide staging opportunities, mentoring and financial support in the form of bursaries.
The team at LARS is multi-disciplined and experienced and includes our well-respected Musical Advisors and Musical Ambassadors. We provide our Rising Stars with invaluable advice and guidance on their musical development, on-stage presentation, the practicalities of studying music and support the application process for colleges and conservatoires.
LARS has considerable experience in planning and delivering prestigious concerts and events, and organises Staging Opportunities and Masterclasses throughout the year. LARS views these as incredibly important in the development of young performers. LARS typically organises around 5 events per year at venues such as Ffwrnes Theatre, St Elli Parish Church, Stradey Castle, Margam Orangery, Llanelly House and Machynys Golf Club.
LARS works closely with choirs across South Wales and other organisations such as the Royal British Legion, and receives invitations for the Rising Stars to perform at numerous events. Some invitations have taken the Rising Stars overseas to Holland, Italy and Canada.
LARS is on the radar of TV producers and the press. Rising Stars have performed on the S4C programmes ‘Noson Lawen’, Pryhawn Da and Heno and receive regular coverage in the local press.
Bursary Funding is a unique benefit of becoming a Rising Star. At LARS we are acutely aware of the financial commitments required to fund young performer training and education. All our Rising Stars can apply for bursary funding each year to help with these costs.
The funding is provided through the Friends of LARS and external sponsors including St Elli Masonic Lodge, Cronfa’r Utgorn, Llanelli Grammar School Old Boys and Graig Former Pupil’s Association and the Lawrence C. Murphy Award.
